I was not sure to want to speack again about the evident presence of alchemic elements in Go, but on KGS i found an Alchemy room completely empty with this message:
“ok, well, i guess i am gonna sit here and play with my yo-yo……..”
but nobody has been sitting there since a week, and he/she even didn’t left his yo-yo to play with 
Then, without yo-yo i have nothing to do in that room, then why not: i will speack again about Alchemy.
Firts of all 2 advices:
1 – For centuries Alchemy has been covered by discredit; this operation has been so succefull that we don’t even now what Alchemy really is
2 – A researche of alchemic elements in Go doesn’t help to improve
Ok, now we can go on 
Everybody knows the term “quintessence”. It is a term commonly used, not in the proper way perhaps, but it is firmly standing on language.
We can say: the quintessence of Go is… hehehe, difficult to end the sentence! Why? because quintessence means a so deep understanding that words can’t explain it.
Quintessence is an alchemic word: the fifth essence. Wich are the first four?
1 – earth
2 - sky
3 – fire
4 – water
5 – quintessence
As we see the first four are just common elements of our planet; they become alchemic essences when we use these words as symbols to refer to the caracteristics of life energies.
With the first two we refer to ”static” energies.
1 – Earth is the “base” of life.
As we know, on the goban the third line is the line we choose to make our groups live easy and fast. We say that if they have a base, they are safe and strong, living groups. A traditional fuseki is mainly played to get “roots” for our stones, beeing careful to have some stones on fourth line, or our position will be “flat”. The necessity of a base for life very often makes the move to get it the most important and urgent move on the goban at any phase of the game.
The area between the third line and the edges is the “earth” of goban. If we never thought about it, there are 136 moku in the earth: so huge resource for life opportunities the earth is
2 – Sky is essencial for life, too. No air no breathing, of course. It is also the necessary protection from outside. On this planet we live in 8 kilometers of breathable air, in a thin sandwich of 100 kilometers of athmosphere and 100 kilometers of solid earth, mooving at a speed of 50.000 kilometers per hour… More people should think sometimes to this simple truth…
The area enclosed by the fifth line is the “sky” of goban. As you see it has no help from edges and it is definitely smaller then the “earth” area. To make life directly in “sky” it is not natural. Of course you can enclose a sufficient portion of the central area of the goban to make a living group, but this is the result of special strategies involving the goban as a whole.
The essence of central stones is to have an “effect”, an “influence”, a “strenght” in combination with “earth” stones; if they are left alone theyr power can quickly desappear.
On the other hand, “earth” stones need to keep a good contact with the “sky” of goban, they need to develope through it, or they will rest sadly isolated from the global life of the game.
Then, we say that in the Goban there are two areas, “Earth” and “Sky”, with completely different caracteristics. They don’t move, they are just there as “essences”. As Taoists say: Earth and Sky don’t do anything, but everything happens thanks to them.
“Earth” essence is to give life, “Sky” essence is to give developement, protection and power, often in an undiirect way. When we judge a position we have to count the extension of territories enclosed by earth stones AND the influence exerted by sky stones.
To get the feeling of sky essence is usually harder than to get the feeling of earth stones, exactly as in our real life. Sky is the symbol of spirituality: wich is the influence of spirtuality in our life? It is easy to understand that we need the earth fruits to survive, it is difficult to understand that we need the sky energy to live a full life.
In this joseki there is some evidence of the above statement:
When black plays 7, this joseki can appear. It is the kind of joseki in wich one player gets territory and the other one gets influence. Here it is evident that white has a territory in the bottom edge, the “earth essence” is perfectly working and it is very easy to see it.
What about black? His stones are facing the center, we can see that they have a “sky essence” bringing influence and power on the goban, but it is much harder, compared to white result, to see wich could be theyr destiny.
On the other hand, this white bottom group gives a feeling that there isn’t a future developement for it, and it is a sad feeling, because it lacks of spirituality, “sky essence”.
To close this chapter we have to speack of the fourth line of the goban.
The fourth line is called the “human line”, because it is in between earth and sky and “partecipates” to bouth essences. It is the line of hoshi, these points so special to be called “stars”.
Men take energy from earth and sky essences; men are the point of junction of them. In men these essences can work together. Men can find a way to make it happen. When it happens that earth essence and sky essence meet in men and in them they work as a whole, a new quality appears. This quality is the target of alchemic practice. This quality make men free. If men get freedom, it is the end of the most modern social and religious structures based on the means of coercion. Then the effort to destroy Alchemy.
We can say that the fourth line is the alchemic line of Go.
